Am I Hysterical?
This project challenges the linking of a menstrual cycle to one's sanity. The idea came from an old diagnosis referred to as Hysteria. Hysteria in identified women was believed to be cause by the uterus. There are still myths and stigma today that link having a menstrual cycle to being not well either physically or mentally. This piece is a visual interpretation of how menstrual bleeding as a psychological diagnosis is absurd. Second photograph taken by Emily Fenn, SAIC student.
